The History of AUG Skins
The AUG is a scoped, semi-automatic rifle available to Counter-Terrorists, effective at range without needing a dedicated sniper rifle. There are 46 AUG skins on the site, spanning 6 rarity tiers from Covert down to Consumer.
From Arms Deal to today
Weapon skins were introduced to Counter-Strike with CS:GO's Arms Deal update in August 2013, which brought Cases, the Steam Community Market, and the first tradable weapon finishes to the game. The earliest AUG finish with a confirmed release date tracked on CS2Owl is AUG | Wings from CS:GO Weapon, released on August 14, 2013. Since then, the AUG skin lineup has grown to 46 skins, with 18 available in StatTrak™ versions and all 46 currently available as Souvenir editions.
Simple finishes to complex designs
Early finishes were plain, single-pattern designs. Later Cases introduced layered, custom-illustrated artwork and textured finishes, expanding what a weapon skin could look like well beyond a solid color or simple camo.
When Valve relaunched the game as Counter-Strike 2 on September 27, 2023, every existing AUG finish carried over unchanged onto the new engine, and new finishes have kept releasing through CS2's own Cases and Collections since.
