The History of Negev Skins
The Negev is the game's heaviest machine gun, with a huge magazine and a spin-up period before it reaches full accuracy. There are 25 Negev skins on the site, spanning 5 rarity tiers from Classified down to Consumer.
From Arms Deal to today
Weapon skins were introduced to Counter-Strike with CS:GO's Arms Deal update in August 2013, which brought Cases, the Steam Community Market, and the first tradable weapon finishes to the game. The earliest Negev finish with a confirmed release date tracked on CS2Owl is Negev | Anodized Navy from Assault, released on August 14, 2013. Since then, the Negev skin lineup has grown to 25 skins, with 12 available in StatTrak™ versions and all 25 currently available as Souvenir editions.
Simple finishes to complex designs
Early finishes were plain, single-pattern designs. Later Cases introduced layered, custom-illustrated artwork and textured finishes, expanding what a weapon skin could look like well beyond a solid color or simple camo.
When Valve relaunched the game as Counter-Strike 2 on September 27, 2023, every existing Negev finish carried over unchanged onto the new engine, and new finishes have kept releasing through CS2's own Cases and Collections since.
