AWP | Pit Viper released November 27, 2013 as part of the Italy Collection.

It originally released during the CS:GO era, before Valve's Counter-Strike 2 relaunch in September 2023 — its artwork, wear range, and source carried over unchanged into CS2.

It launched as a Restricted-tier finish, with a Souvenir edition but no StatTrak™ version.

As a finish, "Pit Viper" is applied to the AWP — Counter-Strike's signature bolt-action sniper rifle, capable of a one-shot kill to the chest or head in most engagements — and carries the purple rarity color every Restricted-tier skin shares on the Steam Market and in-game.
