AWP | Dragon Lore

AWP | Dragon Lore released July 1, 2014 as part of The Cobblestone Collection, tied to Cobblestone's run as a competitive map. It launched as a Covert-tier finish with a Souvenir edition and no StatTrak™ counterpart — a rare combination among Covert skins.

Its fame comes from that Major connection: between ESL One Cologne 2014 and ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018, Cobblestone Souvenir Packages were available at ten Majors, each capable of dropping a Dragon Lore live from the broadcast. That link, not a Case, made it one of Counter-Strike's most recognized rifles.

As a finish, Dragon Lore is applied to the AWP — Counter-Strike's signature bolt-action sniper rifle — and carries the deep red rarity color every Covert-tier skin shares on the Steam Market and in-game. Its hand-painted artwork wraps a gold dragon across a crimson stock and barrel, in the kind of ornate, illustrative style Valve has historically reserved for its rarest weapon finishes.

That Covert classification puts it in the same rarity bracket as skins like the Karambit's rarest finishes, but Dragon Lore earns its recognition from the artwork and the Collection it comes from rather than the weapon platform itself.

Dragon Lore ships in all five wear conditions, but its float is capped between 0.00 and 0.70 — narrower than the full 0.00–1.00 range plenty of other skins allow. In practice that means even its roughest Battle-Scarred copies stop short of the heaviest wear the tier normally allows, since nothing above 0.70 exists for this skin.

Factory New copies (below 0.07 float) show the dragon artwork at its cleanest, while Field-Tested and Well-Worn pieces make up the most commonly traded middle ground between mint and battle-worn.

Dragon Lore comes only from The Cobblestone Collection — no Case drops it, so trade-ups or the Steam Community Market are the only ways to acquire one today. Souvenir copies were only ever available through Cobblestone Souvenir Packages during live Major broadcasts, tied to the map's competitive run.

Valve has never published exact Collection or Souvenir odds. The estimate above applies the same rarity-tier cascade confirmed for Cases, putting a Covert pull like this one at roughly the odds shown — a general sense of scale, not a guaranteed rate.

There's no StatTrak™ edition of Dragon Lore — Valve limited it to a Normal and a Souvenir version only. The Souvenir edition is the scarcer of the two: since Cobblestone's Major run ended, its supply is effectively fixed, while Normal copies still circulate freely through trading and the market.

Beyond the Normal/Souvenir split, there's no separate 'phase' or pattern family to track here the way there is on some Doppler-style finishes — Dragon Lore is a single fixed artwork across every wear condition it ships in.

Few Covert skins carry the recognition Dragon Lore does. Its dragon artwork and Major-souvenir origin story have made it one of the most frequently referenced “grail” skins in Counter-Strike, regularly cited by collectors, traders, and casters alike as a benchmark for what a rare finish can become.

That reputation has outlasted Cobblestone's own competitive run — the skin still comes up constantly in trading and collecting discussions years after the last Souvenir copy dropped.

Dragon Lore's core definition hasn't moved since 2014 — no rarity change, no float adjustment, no reissue. The one real transformation came with Counter-Strike 2 in 2023, when Valve rebuilt the game on the Source 2 engine with upgraded lighting and material rendering; the artwork, wear range, and Collection source carried over from CS:GO exactly as they were.

The bigger shift happened around the skin rather than to it: Cobblestone was removed from the Active Duty map pool in 2019, ending the possibility of new Major souvenir drops — not any change to the skin itself.

Dragon Lore is the only Covert-tier piece in The Cobblestone Collection — the other 14 top out at Classified, like the M4A1-S | Knight. That makes it the single rarest pull the Collection can produce, sharing the same Covert red as every rarest-tier skin in Counter-Strike.

The AWP itself is Counter-Strike's signature bolt-action sniper rifle, capable of a one-shot kill to the chest or head in most engagements. Dragon Lore's name, evoking dragon mythology, fits the grand, illustrative theming Valve reserved for only its most ambitious Covert finishes.
