NAVI's Esports World Cup 2026 ended in a genuine upset: after beating 3DMAX and The MongolZ to reach the playoffs, they were swept 0-2 in the Round of 16 by Legacy, with n1ssim posting a 1.75 rating in the process. Aleksib addressed the loss directly afterward: "Just need to be twice as good, twice as prepared, not lose hope and keep grinding." Coach B1ad3 also acknowledged the team had discussed roster changes around the same time — "we were close to making some changes, but eventually we understood it couldn't happen" — without naming who was involved.
M80's tournament went worse: after winning their own North American closed qualifier for Porto without dropping a single map, they lost their EWC 2026 group-stage opener to G2 13-11 in a Bo1, then were eliminated by Aurora 0-2 without a win to their name at the event. Both teams walk into this opener only days removed from those results, with almost no time to reset.

This is the third meeting between these two teams, and the head-to-head is split evenly: NAVI won 2-0 at PGL Astana in May 2025, then M80 won 2-1 at BLAST Open London that August.
