Legacy vs. Falcons at BLAST Open Porto 2026:Two in a Row
Legacy face Falcons again in Group B's upper semifinal — eight days after eliminating the reigning IEM Cologne Major champions from their first LAN since winning that title.

Legacy and Falcons meet in Group B's upper-bracket semifinal at BLAST Open Porto 2026 on August 29, with a direct spot in the playoff semifinals on the line. Both come off wins in their openers — Legacy beat FUT 2-0, Falcons needed a decider to beat Lynn Vision — but this pairing has a much bigger, much more recent result already attached to it.
Eight days ago, Legacy eliminated Falcons from the Esports World Cup 2026 — the reigning IEM Cologne Major champions' first LAN appearance since winning that title. It was the second straight meeting between these two teams that Legacy had won.

Two in a Row
Legacy's win over Falcons in the Esports World Cup 2026 quarter-final on August 21 wasn't their first this year. The two teams' previous meeting, in the CS Asia Championships 2026 grand final back in May, also went Legacy's way. Whatever this matchup looked like on paper heading into BLAST Porto, the recent scoreboard reads Legacy 2, Falcons 0.
The EWC win was the more consequential of the two — a straight 2-0, 13-7 on Mirage and 13-10 on Dust2, that ended Falcons' tournament in the quarter-final. try led Legacy with a 1.49 rating, closing out Dust2 with an AWP double in a late 2v2; latto's double entry at 10-10 on the same map turned a Falcons rally back in Legacy's favor just when it looked like the game was slipping away.
Falcons' First LAN Since Cologne
Falcons won the IEM Cologne Major in June, sweeping FURIA 3-0 in the grand final after beating NAVI, Vitality and Spirit along the way. The Esports World Cup 2026 was the first LAN they played after that title — and Legacy ended their run in the quarter-final, before Legacy themselves lost to Spirit in the semi-final. Spirit went on to win the whole tournament.
Falcons enter this rematch still ranked highly — HLTV's August 24 World Ranking has them at #2, just behind Spirit, who passed them after that EWC title. But for a team that had won every big final it played this year until three weeks ago, back-to-back losses to the same opponent is a genuinely new problem to solve, not an old one repeating itself.
m0NESY's Night, Legacy's Match
The EWC loss wasn't short of individual brilliance from Falcons' side. m0NESY's AWP carried the T side on Mirage with a run of multi-kill rounds that put Falcons ahead early — Legacy only wrestled the map back once the side switch handed them the CT side and a clean defensive stretch, closing it out 13-7. It's the kind of individual showing that's kept Falcons among the world's best teams since m0NESY joined from G2 in 2025, even in a match his team ultimately lost.
What's on the Line
The winner advances directly to Group B's upper final on August 31 and a guaranteed spot in the playoff semifinals. The loser drops into the lower bracket on August 30 and has to win out from there just to reach the playoffs at all. For Falcons, a third straight loss to this Legacy roster would be a genuinely new pattern for a team that spent most of 2026 on the other side of results like this one.
