FUT vs. Lynn Vision at BLAST Open Porto 2026:Four Days After the EWC Final
FUT close out Group B's Lower Round 1 against Lynn Vision, less than a week removed from an EWC 2026 grand final loss to Spirit — and the org extending three contracts in the middle of it.

FUT and Lynn Vision close out Group B's Lower Round 1 at BLAST Open Porto 2026 on August 29 — both teams coming off Opening Round losses, FUT 1-2 to Legacy, Lynn Vision 1-2 to Falcons. Neither team has played the other before. What makes this one different from the rest of the group stage is what FUT were doing less than a week ago.

A Grand Final Four Days Ago
On August 23, FUT were on the biggest stage of their year — the Esports World Cup 2026 grand final against Spirit — and lost it 1-3. The turning point was Ancient: FUT led 12-9, let it slip into overtime, and lost it there. Whatever that took out of them carried straight into the decider. Coach coolio didn't dress it up afterward: "I think we just ran out of energy for Nuke, and then they had really good momentum, and we couldn't win any duel on Nuke."
Six days is not a lot of recovery time between a continental grand final and a new event's Opening Round, and FUT's 1-2 loss to Legacy here suggests the tank wasn't fully refilled. This match is the first real read on whether that was a short-term dip or something that lingers.
The Org Didn't Blink
Three days after the EWC final loss, on August 26, FUT announced contract extensions for dem0n, coolio and dziugss — three of the same names responsible for the run that got them to that final in the first place. It's a deliberate signal sent in the middle of a rough stretch rather than after it: the org backing this exact core to be the one that plays its way out of a slump, not a reason to change anything about it.
The other name worth tracking is xfl0ud, in from HEROIC on July 7 for lauNX — still a fairly recent swap, and one that was on the server for both the EWC final and the loss to Legacy here.
Not an Easy Round for a Tired Team
If FUT are hoping for a straightforward bounce-back match, Lynn Vision's own opener argues against it. The sole Asian team in the field pushed Falcons to a decider in the Opening Round, leading at points along the way before Falcons closed it out 2-1. A fatigued FUT walking in off a five-day turnaround is exactly the kind of opponent a team playing with nothing to lose can punish.
What's on the Line
Same Lower Round 1 rules as the rest of the group stage: win, and there's a second life in Lower Round 2 against an Upper Semis loser. Lose, and the tournament is over. For FUT, closing out the Folgerunde field, it's a chance to show the EWC final was a peak, not a preview of a longer dip. For Lynn Vision, it's a shot at the upset that got away from them once already this week.
