FUT won 2-1

13-11 on Ancient, 6-13 on Nuke, 16-13 on Dust2 (overtime). FUT end FURIA's unbeaten run and reach their first-ever Big Event grand final — cmtry named Player of the Match with a 1.16 rating.

FURIA and FUT meet in the Esports World Cup 2026 semi-final on August 22 — and between them, they're the only two teams left in the 32-team field who haven't dropped a single series yet.

FURIA won their opening group match, then their upper-bracket semi-final, then the Round of 16, then the quarterfinal — four series, four wins, without ever touching the lower bracket. FUT's record reads the same on the scoreboard, even though it wasn't as clean: they needed a reverse sweep to escape the Round of 16 in one piece.

Two Unbeaten Runs, One Different in Nature

FURIA beat Wildcard in the group stage, then 9z in the upper-bracket semi-final to qualify directly for the playoffs. From there it was a comeback win over Aurora in the Round of 16 and a 2-1 win over G2 in the quarterfinal, sealed by a 13-4 stomp on Dust2 after G2 punished FURIA's own Ancient pick to force a decider.

FUT's path has the same four wins on paper — TYLOO, then MOUZ in their own upper-bracket semi-final, then magic in the Round of 16, then a 2-0 sweep of MOUZ in the quarterfinal. But the magic series wasn't clean: FUT dropped the opening map, and IGL Krabeni later admitted the team lost control of their emotions after giving up ten clutches in a single stretch before recovering to win it. FURIA hasn't needed a single map-one rescue act all tournament.

A Rivalry Split Down the Middle

FURIA and FUT have met three times in 2026, and the series score is 2-1 FURIA — though the map count is dead even at 4-4. FURIA won the opener at BLAST Bounty Season 1 in January, FUT answered with a clean sweep at IEM Kraków two weeks later, and FURIA took the rematch at PGL Cluj-Napoca in February, their most recent meeting. Neither side has won two in a row.

A Roster Question Hanging Over FURIA's Run

FURIA's semi-final berth comes with an unresolved subplot. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's retirement date is approaching, and after the G2 win, YEKINDAR addressed rumors that he and molodoy are being scouted as potential replacements: "We are working on it. Hopefully we're going to stay in four and we're going to find a good player to replace FalleN. But at the same time, it's completely logical that everybody's looking at options." He also confirmed he's already taking over in-game leading duties on certain maps.

None of that has shown up in the results yet — FURIA are still unbeaten — but it adds weight to how far this specific lineup can still take this run.

A Final Spot, and a Bigger Prize Jump Than It Looks

The winner goes straight into the Esports World Cup 2026 grand final on August 23 against the winner of Legacy vs. Spirit; the loser drops into the third-place match the same day. It's the single biggest prize-money step of the whole bracket — fourth place is already locked in at $110,000, but the gap between reaching the final and not is a jump to a guaranteed $340,000, with $600,000 on the line for whoever wins it all. FURIA arrive as the higher-ranked, still-perfect side; FUT arrive as the team HLTV itself has flagged as a real threat to go all the way.
