Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Ruby)

Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Ruby) released September 14, 2017 as part of the Spectrum 2 Case.

It originally released during the CS:GO era, before Valve's Counter-Strike 2 relaunch in September 2023 — its artwork, wear range, and source carried over unchanged into CS2.

It launched as an Extraordinary-tier finish, with a StatTrak™ edition but no Souvenir version.

This exact finish is also obtained through Spectrum Case.

As a finish, "Doppler (Ruby)" is applied to the Butterfly Knife — a balisong-style folding knife known for its flipping draw animation — and carries the red rarity color every Extraordinary-tier skin shares on the Steam Market and in-game.

That Extraordinary classification places it in CS2's rarest tier overall — the same bracket every knife and glove finish occupies, one step above even Covert weapon skins.

Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Ruby) only ships in 2 of the five wear conditions (Factory New, Minimal Wear) — there's no Field-Tested or Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred release for this finish.

As with every CS2 skin, lower float values look cleaner: Factory New copies (roughly below 0.07 float) show the finish at its sharpest, while Field-Tested and Well-Worn pieces make up the most commonly traded middle ground between mint and heavily worn.

Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Ruby) comes from the Spectrum 2 Case — the Case is no longer part of the active drop pool, so trading and the Steam Community Market are the ways to acquire it today.

Valve's own published Case odds put an Extraordinary-tier pull of this finish at a known rate, but Valve doesn't publish how that splits between its individual phases — the 1 in 138462 (0.0007%) figure above layers a third-party phase-odds estimate on top of that confirmed finish-level rate, so treat it as a general sense of scale rather than a guaranteed number.

Alongside the Normal version, this finish also has a StatTrak™ edition that tracks confirmed kills — there's no Souvenir version.

This finish is also part of a Doppler-style phase family, sharing one identity across several visually distinct phases — see the source page for the other phases of the same finish.

Extraordinary-tier pulls like this one are inherently the rarest outcome of opening the Cases that contain them, which alone keeps demand — and market prices — meaningfully higher than the tiers below it.

Its StatTrak™ edition tends to trade at a premium over the Normal version, the same pattern seen across most CS2 skins with that variant available.

Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Ruby) has been part of the Spectrum 2 Case since September 14, 2017, and like every CS:GO-era CS2 skin, carried over unchanged when Valve relaunched the game on the Source 2 engine in 2023 — the artwork, wear range, and source Case/Collection are the same today as they were before the migration.

This finish is one of 30 distinct Extraordinary finishes in the Spectrum 2 Case's rare-special drop pool.

This is one of 35 Butterfly Knife skins currently listed on the site, spanning multiple rarity tiers.
